Color Study

Compared the color images against the black and white version. I thought it would help determine if the pictures were about the color, or if it held up on its own without the color. It also helped determine what the color added to the picture.

Green

Cilantro. It made a good guacamole afterwards....

Red

Radishes...
I actually desaturated this picture a little, cause it was a little too red.

Yellow

It's hard to get bananas home without bruising them.

Orange

Orange bell peppers. The orange one looks weird in black and white.

Blue

This one was disappointing. There aren't many blue foods. Most turn out to be purple when you get them well lit. Started with canned blueberries (felt frozen wouldn't have looked good), but those are just a dark purple. Red cabbage turns a nice blue when you cook it, but becomes too limp, and looses it's structure. These were blue potatoes, and even they looked purple when raw. When cooked, they turned blue. I thought these pictures made the food look a little gross, but maybe that's how we're supposed to interpret blue foods.

Cabbage, Front and Back

Cabbage from the front.Cabbage from the back. Took this with the sunlight coming through the cabbage leaf. Gave it glowing look.

Aerodynamic Bananas

Thought the "swoop" shape was interesting on these.

Radishes

Color project rejects.

Bouncing Light

I just liked the way the light bounced off the floor onto the wall. A combination of diffused and reflected light.

Bricks and Trees

Mostly, I liked the brick pattern on this one. The palm trees make it a little more interesting.

Big Tree

This tree looked incredible, towering over the neighborhood, dwarfing the other trees. The wind was blowing the branches giving it a graceful movement. Unfortunately, I don't think this picture captures it very well.

Moody Moon

As I was driving home, the moon was coming up behind these spectacular clouds. They started off a bright white, then picked up purples and reds from the sunset, then darker blues and purples. Wish I could have gotten to the park in time for some of the other phases.

Fast See Warmup

Warm-up shot for fast-see project. SUV's lurking in the grass, waiting to attack.

Welcome/Keep Out

The arch says "welcome", the gate says "keep out".

Gun and Hypodermic Needle

I found the image of the gun and hypodermic needle kind of disturbing in a school setting.

Guarded School

I realized when I started working on this project that all schools have fences around them. It didn't used to be that way. This school had two sets of fences protecting the school.

Hard Knock Life

Little patch of clover growing in the parking lot.
